The opening weekend numbers for ‘Thor: The Dark World’ are still being finalized but it’s looking like the sequel will be number one at the box office domestically with $86.1 million. That amount is better than its predecessors opening but it’s not even close to the opening for ‘Marvel’s The Avenger’. So I bet your wondering how exactly it beat ‘Marvel’s The Avengers’.
Its looking like when ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ is released on November 22nd, all of its competition should prepare to be annihilated. ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ is projected to open with between $140 million and $150 million. Some even believe the sequel could reach up to $185 million. The latter opening would be more than ‘The Hunger Games’, which opened with $152.5 million (which is still pretty great).
